As I was walking along a trail below Mount Everest in Nargarkot, Nepal, with Cap Miller, S.J., a Jesuit anthropologist who spoke the local language, we came upon an 89-year-old woman cutting grass for her single cow. As another person appeared on the trail, she folded her hands and gave the traditional Buddhist greeting, "Namaste." Translated, it means "the divine in me worships the divine in you."
